Tales of Elysia (Album)
Posted on 18/06/2017
Tales of Elysia is a concept album composed by Liam Bradbury that tells the story of a dragon that awakens to wreak havoc throughout the Kingdom and a heroic young girl named ‘Elysia’ who travels far and wide seeking to stop it.
The music is orchestral fantasy music that has a range of influences from cinematic soundtracks, Celtic and fantasy music. There are musical themes that are heard throughout that depict certain characters, this helps to portray the story of the album and also gives it a central focus around which the rest of the music is created. The themes become more developed and are heard more frequently towards the end of the album, this is to give a sense of the journey and how they begin with nothing and end with a brotherhood.
The themes that can be heard are:
- Kingdom theme (Track 01 – 0:00)
- Elysia’s theme (Track 01 – 1:10)
- Brotherhood theme (Track 01 – 1:42)
- Village theme (Track 02 – 0:07)
- The Queens theme (Track 07 – 1:00)
The Dragon doesn’t have a theme, but the music has a distinctive dark, chromatic sound to it whenever the Dragon is present.
